Event description

Description

The 2019 Peer-supported Open Dialogue conference is upon us. Peer-supported Open Dialogue is a form of client-driven, relationship-centred mental healthcare that brings friends, families and peers together to support the person experiencing distress, helping them make sense of their experience and find a way forward together. This is different to the 1:1 care most receive today, and the emphasis is on enabling the person at the centre of care to take control and gain a sense of agency together with their social network from day one.

The world's largest trial of Open Dialogue is now underway in the NHS and it is progressing at a pace. A feasibility trial has been successfully completed in London and Kent and we are now organising the launch of 6 more teams in sites across the country. A key site is Devon, where they will be launching a service in Torbay and this will be the location for our 2019 national Peer-supported Open Dialogue Conference.

You'll hear from a range of families who have experienced the service as well as clinicians who have been trained to work this new way. The research team from UCL will also be in attendance to outline the progress of the trial and a number of national POD trainers will be speaking too.

Oh, and being Torquay, it'll all be right next to the beach!

So come and join us on August 19th from 2 to 5pm at The Riveria Centre in South Devon...

Tickets are on a donations basis so you can pay as much or as little as you like. All the money will go towards supporting the promotion and implementation of Open Dialogue in the UK.
