Christmas Day Ride 2020

About this Event

This ride has taken place every year since 2001, when it was inaugurated by the late Barry Mason, coordinator of Southwark Cyclists, founder of Greenwich Cyclists and organiser of the Dunwich Dynamo.

Due to Coronavirus, you will have to pre-resigster on Eventbrite with a specific group of six riders. When you turn up to the ride you cannot change your mind about which group you are in, as that would be mingling.

There will be two feeder rides:

1) From Swiss Cottage Library, departing 9am from the entrance by the Swiss Cottage Open Space, 88 Avenue Road, London NW3 3HA.

2) From Biegel Bake, departing 10.15am from 159 Brick Lane, Shoreditch, London E1 6SB (come earlier if you want to join us for breakfast).

The main ride will start at the Southwark Needle at 11am. Separate groups of six will cycle to Edgware Road via Leadenhall Market, St Paul's, Soho, Seven Dials, Covent Garden, The Mall and Hyde Park.

At the end of the group people can stop off at the Beirut Cafe, or nearby cafes, for lunch at about 1pm.

Those wishing to come on the ride are asked to bring warm clothing, water, snacks, lights, basic tools and a spare inner tube in case you have a puncture, Active parents are most welcome on the ride, provided that they are accompanied by at least one responsible child, and behave themselves. All should have at least basic road cycling experience.

Distance of the ride: 10 miles (one way to Edgware Road).
