Event description
The Annual IIIF Conference is the place for cultural heritage staff and researchers to share and learn about the latest in the IIIF world.

About this Event

The 2020 International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) Annual Conference will be held in Boston June 1-4, 2020, and will be hosted jointly by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The Conference is intended for a wide range of participants and interested parties, including digital image repository managers, content curators, software developers, scholars, and administrators at libraries, museums, cultural heritage institutions, software firms, and other organizations working with digital images and audio/visual materials.

The IIIF Showcase is meant to introduce newcomers to IIIF, and those seeking to learn how IIIF is used in a variety of contexts.

The IIIF Workshops offer more in-depth opportunities to learn about IIIF tools and platforms.

The IIIF Conference features plenary presentations and breakout sessions about IIIF implementations around the world, including cutting edge use cases and demonstrations.

All event proceedings will be in English.

What is IIIF?

Embraced by a growing number of the world’s leading research and cultural heritage organizations, IIIF provides an open framework for organizations to publish their image and audio/video-based resources, to be viewed, cited, annotated, and compared by any compatible viewing application.

For whom is it meant?

These events will be valuable for staff from cultural heritage and STEM institutions, repository and collection managers, software engineers, and anyone engaged with image-based and A/V resources on the Web and in-person experiences. If you have not been involved with IIIF in the past, these events are a great opportunity to quickly get up to speed and understand the community and its benefits, particularly the IIIF Showcase. For more experienced attendees it is a great place to get the pulse of the community and see the latest and greatest developments.
