INVITATION
2020 JOINT ASEAN SOCIETIES ONLINE RECEPTION
Thursday 3 December 2020 at 6pm to 8pm
Please join us for our 3rd Annual Joint ASEAN Societies Reception which will be an online zoom event this year due to COVID-19. As in previous years we are gathering to celebrate UK- ASEAN Links and to provide the opportunity for updates on important developments in the region such as the very exciting RCEP ( Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership ) Trade Agreement between the 10 ASEAN countries plus China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, arguably the world’s largest free trade agreement signed on 15 November 2020. The pandemic has affected the economies of the ASEAN region in particular the Travel, Tourism and hospitality sectors and the lives of many in the region.
There is still a widespread view across the various UK-ASEAN societies and groups that more can be done to enhance the overall UK-ASEAN Links. These links cover all aspects of the relationship, in both directions, including trade and investment, education, tourism, and cultural links. In the context of Brexit, it is critical that there is a united voice to get the message over that the UK is Open and Welcoming to Investors, Students, and Tourists from ASEAN. The Societies taking part this year are set out below. Please look up their websites for more information about them.
