Event description

Description

Create your own series of unique monoprints by taking inspiration from our 20:20 Print Exchange Exhibition, an international touring exhibition coming to The Art House this September.

Unlike most printmaking techniques which allow for multiple originals, monoprinting creates only one, unique image at a time. The beauty of this technique lies in its spontaneity and its allowance for combinations of printmaking, painting and mark making. On this one day workshop you will learn how to use oil-based inks, paper stencils and our large etching press to create your own prints onto paper. Using the 20:20 Print Exchange format, you’ll come away with a series of unique and colourful, multi-layered prints all 20cm by 20cm in size.

Who is the course for?

Ideal for complete beginners in printmaking, no previous experience is necessary. Those with some previous experience are welcome to attend to gain tutor advice and guidance and explore the possibilities of the process.

Do I need to bring anything?

All materials and equipment will be provided on the day.
Refreshments will be provided but you may wish to bring some lunch along with you.

Your Tutor

Rachel aka Bobshaped is a printmaker based in West Yorkshire. She studied engineering before achieving a degree in metalwork and jewellery. After using tools for many years ‘drawing’ with lino cutters was a natural progression into print. This lead to an interest in other types of print, she is currently enjoying screen printing and letterpress. She has taught various print techniques to both adults and children through different organisations including Wakefield art club and Wakefield Cathedral. Pattern, repeats, layers, colours, nature, technology, craft, packaging, architecture and process are some of the things that inform her work. Sometimes there is a bit of humour thrown in for good measure. You can contact her at rachel@bobshaped.com see examples of her work at www.bobshaped.com and follow her on twitter or Instagram as @bobshaped
