Event description

Experience the amazing camaraderie of being part of the RAF Association Team and enter our ballot today. The Virgin Money London Marathon is a highlight of our challenge events calendar. We look forward to supporting you as we count down the days.

2020 will be the 40th anniversary of the London Marathon and is currently set for Sunday 19 April.

If you are selcted for a place, as a way of saying a small thank you and once the adrenaline has subsided, you and your supporters are invited to celebrate your fantastic achievement at the Royal Air Force Club for an after event reception.

When will I be informed of whether or not I have a place?

If you are successful at gaining a place you will be informed by the end of October 2019.

Registration fee

Please note that there is a non-refundable GBP50.00 registration fee payable for those that are successful in gaining a place.

How much do I have to raise for a Royal Air Forces Association Golden Bond charity place?

If you are selcted for a place, we ask that all our charity place runners pledge to raise a minimum of £2,000, not including Gift Aid. This will be due 3 months after the event. Of course, we'll give you all the encouragement and support you need to smash that target.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

You must be over the age of 18 years to enter this event

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

No, only the name of the person that has registered can take part.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

No, please check all names by the 1st February 2020, after this no changes can be made.

I have my own ballot place, can I still run in RAF Association colours?

Of course you can, and it's something we admire and wholly support; it's a fantastic sight to watch a sea of light blue on the course.

If you have your own place, then we just ask you to raise as much as possible. But you can rest assured we'll provide you with just the same level of care and support that our guaranteed place runners receive.

What fundraising support can I expect?

Our small team here at RAFA HQ will be on hand to help and guide you through your fundraising journey; We will give pointers and suggestions on how to increase your pledges and share what other participants are doing to maximise their sponsorship.

You will be sent a fundraising pack, this includes useful information on the 'hows', 'whys' and 'what ifs' of fundraising.

All runners fundraising for the RAF Association will also receive a running vest with their name printed on. In 2019 we also set up a WhatsApp group for runners to share their training and fundraising tips and stories.
