20+20 Vision: What Worked and What Didn't - Reflections on a Planning Caree...
Tue 21 March 2017, 17:30 – 20:30 GMT
Guest Speaker: Adrian Penfold OBE.
"Adrian has extensive experience as a planner in local government and the private sector. 20 years of public sector planning experience included Bedfordshire, Hammersmith & Fulham, the LDDC and culminated as Chief Planner at Dartford in Kent. He then moved to the private sector where he has been Head of Planning at the development company British Land since 1996. Adrian was a member of the Barker Review of Land Use Planning’s Panel of Experts and led the independent Penfold Review of Non-Planning Consents which reported in July 2010. He is a member of the DCLG Planning Sounding Board and is Chair of the BPF Planning Committee. He is also Chair of Design South East and a member of the University of Warwick’s Governing Council.
"This evening’s presentation will illustrate a career split between public and private sector planning, highlighting some examples of the strengths and weaknesses which each exhibits. Our speaker will describe some of the major cases with which he has been involved and what they have taught him about the planning and development process. The presentation will be followed by a discussion chaired by Prof. Peter Rees and will conclude with an opportunity for networking and refreshments.”
