About this event
London Materials Society will host the local heats for the Young Persons' Lecture Competition, on the 06th of February 2020.

The evening will commence with tea and coffee with tea and coffee at 17.30, followed by individual presentations at 18:00 hours.
A buffet will be served at 19:45. The prizes will be presented at approximately 20:15.
There will be cash prizes to winners and the 1st place winner will go on to compete in the South East Regional Final. The selected Candidate will compete in the National Finals which will usually takes place in April, at the Armourers’ Hall, London.
The winner of the national completion will take part in the World Lecture Competition Final.

The London Materials Society (LMS) is a local society of The Institure of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3). The society meets regularly to discuss and host lectures on every aspect of Materials from ice cream manufacture and self-healing structured cities to developments in nanotechnology and tissue engineering for medical applications. Other key events for the Society are the re-inaugurated annual June Wilson Award for young female researchers in materials science & engineering, and the Young Persons' Lecture Competition - London heats every February. All events, usually held at the Institute's London headquarters start at 6.30 pm (unless otherwise stated) with tea and biscuits provided from 6 pm and a light buffet reception after the meeting. Events are free of charge and the society encourage the public to attend.
