About this event

Join us on Tuesday 30th May, 18:00 - 21:00 for the launch of the 2022 Aga Khan Award for Architecture & ArCHIAM Exhibition at RIBA North, Liverpool, UK.

The exhibition showcases the awarded and shortlisted projects of the 2020-2022 cycle.

Kicking off a month of events to celebrate the 2020-2022 cycle Aga Khan Award for Architecture and the 10th anniversary of the ArCHIAM Research Centre, we will be hosting a launching event at RIBA North, Liverpool, UK.

The series of events, organised by the ArCHIAM centre and Liverpool School of Architecture, with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, will include a selection of talks from architects and academics associated with the award process, as well as discussions involving international and UK architecture figures, academics from the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), and local architecture practitioners. The talks and discussions will be accompanied by exhibitions showcasing the recently concluded Aga Khan Award (2022), as well as the work of ArCHIAM in cultural heritage research and practice, and the common threads between their work. The exhibition will display the 20 shortlisted (including the 6 winning) projects. In addition, two films created by XJTLU academics and students on previous award-winning Chinese projects will be screened along with videos of the highlights from the October 2022 award ceremony, which was held in Muscat, Oman.

The launch event will be opened by the Vice Chancellor Prof Tim Jones, University of Liverpool, followed by brief introductions from the Director of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, Farrokh Derakhshani, and the Director of ArCHIAM, Prof Soumyen Bandyopadhyay, and a tour of the exhibition and drinks reception.
