Please note that Bristol M Shed sits within the Bristol City Clean Air Zone (CAZ) so if you are intending to arrive by car do plan ahead. There are also a nunber of road closures due to a need to repair ageing infrastructure. Information regarding the CAZ can be also be found on the Bristol City Council website.

Bristol M Shed

M Shed stands on Princes Wharf, an area where shipbuilding was taking place from the early 18th century onwards. In1804 the site witnessed the birth of Bristol's Iconic Floating Harbour, completed in 1809 the harbour transformed the area. Part of this massive engineering feat involved the creation of a manmade river to the south of M Shed know locally as The Cut. The Bristol Channel boasts the second highest tidal range in the world which impacts the tidal reach of the River Avon, without the creation of The Cut, completion of the Floating Harbour would have led to the city being flooded twice a day.
