'FROM THE FORGOTTEN TO THE FAMOUS'
An Irish Writer's Walk from Temple Gardens, Fleet St to The Wedding Cake Church.
This enchanting part of the city is a place of beauty and a joy forever, thanks to the forgotten workers who transformed and rebuilt it down the centuries.
Famous and forgotten poets/writers/journalists worked their butts off in this area. One immortalized the loneliness of being ‘the last rose of summer.’ Another managed to leave ‘the pavements grey’ and win the Nobel Prize for literature. Another missed the boat to America but .....She Stooped to Conquer.
Without the thousands of print workers who toiled in dirty, deafening dungeons changing the words written in ink to printed books and newspapers Fleet St would never have become famous worldwide.
