Description

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL).

Millions of people still live with the fear of landmines. Every day people die or suffer horrific injuries from weapons abandoned after conflict. CIPR International, with the support of The Royal Commonwealth Society, will host a debate and reception to boost awareness of the issue and raise money for the charity Find a Better Way.

The charity was founded by Sir Bobby Charlton to develop, in partnership with the University of Manchester, the technology to accelerate the detection and safe removal of landmines globally.

The debate is to be chaired by BBC Diplomatic Producer Stuart Hughes. Panel members include Nick Roseveare MBE, Chief Executive of the Mines Advisory Group, Steven Smith, Chief Executive, Action on Armed Violence, a member of the UK government and Judy Grayson, Head of Unicef New York's Child Protection Section work on armed violence and weapons.
