21 years ago the first group of Youth and Community Work students started studying at the University of Huddersfield. In those days the course was called ‘Community Education’ and we were based at Hollybank, on the Halifax Road. 21 years later the course is ‘Youth and Community Work’ and we’re based in Lockside, on the main campus.
On 21 October we’re celebrating our 21st birthday from 5.30-8.00 in Lockside room LS2/11. It’s an opportunity to catch up with other Alumni, with Friends of the Course and with many of the Lecturers who taught you. We’re planning light refreshments and there will be a birthday cake!
Are you still working with young people or in a community setting – or are you doing something completely different? How are you using your skills, values and knowledge? We’d love to find out what route your career is taking and what you’re doing now.
Do you remember Christine Jarvis? Pete Sanderson? Helen Jones? Paul Thomas? Jean Hatton? Lyn Boyd? Martin Purcell? Mohammed Karolia? We all still work at the University! We’re also welcoming back former colleagues including Geraint Owen and Ernest Fields.
If you’re in contact with other University of Huddersfield youth and community work Alumni, please spread the word so we meet up with as many people as possible!
