Event description
Michael Eden will reflect upon the 18th century and the individuals involved in the rise of modern science.

About this Event

Michael Eden uses modern digital technologies to create brilliantly coloured 3D-printed forms. Michael has worked with museums in the UK and the USA and he will describe how his work draws on the progress in science, technology, and the arts in the 18th century – an age of technological achievements in the field of ceramics.

"My Portland Vase was made because it is a much loved object that was famously copied by Josiah Wedgwood, who borrowed the original Roman glass vase owned by the Duchess of Portland."

A programme of art talks which explores our contemporary exhibition programme, and offers different perspectives on The Portland Collection of historic fine and decorative arts.

This project is supported by the Art Fund and forms part of RA250 UK: Exhibitions and events around the UK to celebrate 250 years of the Royal Academy of Arts.
