Event description

Description

Pale News is a new commission by London-based artists Milo van der Maaden and Imran Perretta who work with video, sculpture and performance. A theatrical script and musical score, devised by van der Maaden and Perretta in collaboration with local LGBTQ community members, is performed at the Bandstand in Victoria Park. The work reflects upon the phenomenon of pinkwashing, whereby LGBTQ rights are used to market a so-called liberal attitude of tolerance, serving to further marginalise local minority groups within current anti-immigrant and Islamophobic discourses.
