This is a strange event. Hosted across multiple continents and time zones, this online writing retreat allows participants in 23Things International to meet online and find support for their own academic writing project, over a continuous 48 hours.
Along the way we'll be dropping in for chat and advice at the universities of Otago, AUT, Avondale College, Florida, Cambridge and Surrey, with some in-person events for locally based researchers. There is also a blog on the 23Things website with ideas and simple resources to get the most out of your writing time.
This is primarily a writing retreat, so we support you in setting appropriate targets and creating a helpful structure of short, friendly meetings, with chunks of writing time in between. You only need to come to the meetings that suit you, so this might be idea for night owls and larks who don't normally have writing partners in their own time zone.
The mechanism is simple: register for this event, and we will share Zoom links for all the meetings before things kick off. You may attend any of the meetings you like. We do recommend co-ordinating with your pod, too, to swap tips and fit in a bit of socialising.
The draft time table is below, and we will email you a copy when you register. The Zoom links will be provided shortly before we kick off. If you have any questions or are interested in attending the AUT / Otago in-person events, please contact your local organiser.
Please note that times are given based on the hosting institution, so depending on where in the world you are, you will need to adjust accordingly. (We've arranged them here by chronological order.) You don't need to be in the same stage of your writing retreat to join a meeting - e.g. if our Afternoon Catch Up is your Early Morning Getting Going, you are still perfectly welcome.
Looking forward to seeing you for the Big Write!
