Description

TRICS Consortium Limited are pleased to announce that the 23rd annual TRICS User Meeting will be taking place in London on Tuesday 26th June 2018. The annual User Meeting remains a free event (one person per member organisation office), and following a well-attended event in 2017 we are expecting bookings to once again come thick and fast this year, so please book your places as soon as possible to avoid any potential disappointment (places are limited). The User Meeting is an ideal forum for both new and experienced users of TRICS, consisting of a series of presentations relating to the TRICS system and its associated projects. It is an excellent opportunity to network with members of the TRICS Community from across the UK and Ireland, and is always an event that allows all attendees to provide their own feedback and ideas as to how TRICS should continue to be developed and improved in the future. As in previous years, there is also the opportunity to refresh your knowledge of how the TRICS system works through an interactive system demonstration in the afternoon, which is one of two options available, the other being an open forum on system development that allows members to exchange their ideas freely.

This forum should be particularly interesting this year as we are looking for ideas for the major TRICS 8 upgrade which is scheduled to take place in 2020.

This Year's Presentations

As with previous years, we have put together a line-up of presentations for this year’s event that covers a variety of topics associated with TRICS. The first presentation is a talk on the results of the 2018 TRICS User Survey and the system enhancements that we are thinking of introducing this year as a result. This will be followed by a presentation on the 2018 TRICS Data Collection Programme, which will also include up to date information on the specifically commissioned TRICS SAM surveys plus an update on the launch of TRICS in New Zealand and Australia. After a tea and coffee break mid-morning, we have a dedicated session covering a major project that TRICS is undertaking this year, a survey of the urban extension of Cambourne Village in Cambridgeshire.

This project has been developed over many months, and includes surveys on internalisation within a number of development types within Cambourne Village. We believe this is the first such review of an urban extension of this type, and we hope that this can be a blueprint for further similar studies. After lunch, there will be guest presentation from Ed Josey of Markides Associates, covering issues that consultants have been experiencing with two land use types (Assisted Living developments and petrol filling stations), something that should get some discussion going. This is being followed by a TRICS SAM survey case study which demonstrates how flexible TRICS can be in terms of delivering specifically tailored survey count information requested by our clients. Once the main presentations are over, there is then the option to attend the open forum on TRICS 8 system development or the TRICS system demonstration, which ends the day.

The award-winning building where our event is taking place is a three minute walk from Farringdon station, and is set in London’s buzzing design quarter a stone’s throw away from Hatton Garden. The internal spaces are ideal for our event, and further details of the venue can be found at their website www.goldsmiths-centre.org.
