Event description

Description

The School of Law is proud to announce that session 2017-18 marks the 25th year of Law students contributing to the work of Citizens’ Advice Scotland by undertaking voluntary placements, organised through the CAB/ School of Law partnership. Opportunities to volunteer for this valuable work are now advertised by the University’s Internship Hub making them more widely accessible. Since session 1992/93 over 600 students have benefitted from the experience each year and the scheme continues. We are very proud of this collaboration and delighted that its success has led us to develop further annual student placement opportunities with local Law Centres and organisations such as Govan Law Centre, Shelter, Legal Services Agency and JustRight Scotland.

You are warmly invited to this Silver Anniversary event: come and celebrate the fact that Law students make great advisers, and if you have not undertaken a placement, come and be inspired!

At the same time, we are also excited to be launching the Law School's very own Glasgow Open Justice Initiative (or GO Justice). This is aimed at promoting the growing number of rights- and social justice-related projects underway which directly involve law students. It is also hoped that it will provide an avenue through which we can develop new and more varied opportunities.

This combined celebratory and launch event will consist of some short presentations followed by drinks and canapes and time for reunion and networking.

We look forward to seeing you there!
