About this event

The University of Manchester will be celebrating women in business by hosting an inspirational event aimed at showcasing the potential of female entrepreneurship and encouraging students to embrace their creativity, spark connections and test out business ideas.

Hosted by the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre, this half-day event will feature a range of insightful talks and workshops to help build your confidence, broaden your networks, and introduce you to new tools that will help you refine and launch a business idea.

13:20 - 13:30, Welcome

13:30 - 14:10, The Future Kind Collective - Keynote Speaker

Starting with our Keynote Speakers Alicia and Nat, founders of The Future Kind Collective, who help companies to grow faster and more sustainably by defining their purpose, designing their culture and growing their impact. You’ll hear their experiences, insights, and reflections on how they continually push the limits and drive change.

14:10 - 15:00, Panel Discussion

We’ll be joined by a panel of entrepreneurs, who will share their experiences of building confidence despite the fear of failure, whether that be as students, entrepreneurs or in our everyday lives. With experience ranging from the fashion industry to agri-tech solutions, to the creative and dance sector, learn how each of our panel members overcame barriers and set expectations in their respective fields.

You will be able to select two out of three workshops to participate in:

  • Personal Branding with The Future Kind Collective Find your purpose and learn how to use storytelling to bring your passion to life. You’ll learn the practical tools to help define your purpose, vision and mission for a purpose-driven outlook.
  • Ideation with Amelia Woods Try out some interactive ideation techniques to generate and filter out ideas for a passion, project or business.
  • Crafting a Value Proposition with Deborah Wood: Learn how to craft a crystal clear offering for your talents, product or service to give yourself a leading edge over your competitors.

16:00 - 16:15, Break

16:15 - 17:00, Workshops Round 2

17:00 - 18:00, Closing Statements followed swiftly by drinks, nibbles and networking.

Travel information

If you are arriving by car, the nearest car park is Car Park D, Booth Street West, M15 6A (Access via Higher Cambridge Street).

If you are arriving by train the nearest train stations are Manchester Oxford Road or Manchester Piccadilly which are both approximately a 20 minute walk away.

The Alliance Manchester Business School has one entrance which is situated opposite the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
