Event description

Description

The Huseyin Celebi Literature festival founded in 1993, will take place in London on 21st October 2017. The festival commemorates Huseyin Celebi, a renowned creative writer who lost his life in the fight for Kurdish liberation in 1992, this year the festival takes on new meaning as it will be celebrated in memory of Mehmet Aksoy, a British-Kurdish writer, poet and filmmaker who was killed by ISIS while making a documentary about the Raqqa operation alongside the YPG.

In this spirit, we invite to the Huseyin Celebi Literature Festival - all who strive to contribute in an imaginative and inspirational manner to defending freedom and living life in all its richness. Come along and celebrate a memorable day of poetry, music, dance and food. The festival will hold an awards ceremony for the poetry and short stories we have made a call for.
