Important Data Protection Changes that may affect you!!

AVOID YOUR DESK BECOMING A CRIME SCENE. New rules on Data Protection means that your business or organisation could be hit with massive fines, for data infringments.

Ensure you know all the NEW and EXISTING rules. Ensure you are on the right side of the law.

For the voluntary sector, it can be a struggle getting to grips with the many myths that surround data protection and many questions can feel very hard to answer.

  • Can you share personal information with other organisations?
  • How long should you keep your records?
  • Do you need consent?
  • Do you need to tell people what you are doing with their information?
  • Is email secure?

Are you aware that there is a new Data Protection Regulation coming into force this year? How prepared are you for the changes that are to come our way?

These sessions seek to provide good practical answers to many of the questions that we struggle with and seeks to help you understand what you need to be doing to make sure you comply with the current legislation. The session also introduces the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which comes into force on 25th May 2018, highlighting the changes you need to consider and providing a framework to help you in your preparation for the new regulation.

These sessions will be delivered by Alison Johnston, who is the Lead Policy Officer for the Information Commissioner’s Office in Scotland that regulates the Data Protection Act 1998 and will also regulate the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Alison’s extensive knowledge and experience will benefit your organisation by increasing your confidence in handling personal information and helping you to comply with the current legislation, as well as providing a framework to help you prepare for the new regulation.
