Three Portrait Photographers Unite for New East London Exhibition titled
@28Sunbury in Partnership with Printspace
Tom Oldham, Ron Timehin, and James Hole to Exhibit Prominent East London
Portraits During October’s PhotoMonth Festival
LONDON, UK — Three acclaimed portrait photographers, Tom Oldham, Ron Timehin,
and James Hole, are set to unveil a new body of work at Printspace this October as part
of East London’s PhotoMonth Festival. The exhibition, hosted in the renowned gallery
and industry go-to printers Printspace on Kingsland Road, opens with a launch event on
Thursday, October 2nd, coinciding with East London’s celebrated First Thursdays.
The exhibition will showcase striking portraits of some of East London’s most iconic
and culture-shaping figures, including legendary artists Gilbert & George, LGBTQ+
activist Lady Phyll, and musician Hak Baker. Each portrait was captured in the intimate
setting of 28 Sunbury, the studio the three photographers share in Shoreditch.
This show offers more than visual excellence (two of the images were shortlisted for the
prestigious Taylor Wessing prize earlier this year). It’s a call to re-engage with the
closeness of human connection and the physicality of print. At a time when immediacy,
digital saturation, and AI-generated content can dominate our visual landscape, this
exhibition reclaims space for the intimacy and friendliness shared during a portrait
shoot and again, celebrates the coming together that occurs to enjoy the physical form
of print — the very antithesis of fleeting, scrolled through online content.
Printspace, a major force in photographic printing (known for producing exhibitions
such as the Sony World Photography Awards and working with globally recognised
photographers), provides printing and framing, plus the perfect backdrop for this timely
and resonant body of work. As a featured venue of PhotoMonth Festival, @28Sunbury
will sit alongside a dynamic programme of photography exhibitions, events, screenings,
and walking tours across all London areas with an “E” postcode from EC1 to SE15, from
Hackney to Deptford.
