Event description

Description

What is a Restorative Approach?

A restorative approach offers schools an alternative way of addressing discipline and behavioural issues and offers a consistent framework for responding to these issues. The aim of this training is to contribute to the building of a strong, mutually respectful, safe, inclusive and peaceful school community. This course provides intensive, interactive facilitator training, focusing on an understanding of restorative ethos and the practice of sound restorative practitioner skills. This course has met the Restorative Justice Council's (RJC) training standards and has been awarded a Training Provider Quality Mark. This course will be delivered by an RJC Accredited Practitioner.

Who is this course for?

This course is for schools that are looking to train staff to facilitate restorative practices such as formal conferences, corridor and playground chats and class circles. The course is suitable for Senior and Middle Leaders, Pastoral Staff, SenCos, Family Workers and class teachers. Ideally, the person attending the course will be able to implement changes when back in school. People from Primary, Secondary and FE settings are welcome. We are limiting the numbers to 12 participants so as to ensure a quality trainer – participant ratio.

How long is the course?

The course runs over three days, a week apart: Thursday 4th June, Thursday 11th June and Thursday 18th June 2020. Even though you are booking for the 4th June on Eventbrite, your ticket will be for all three days of the training course. Participants must attend all three training days.

  • 4th June
  • 11th June
  • 18th June

What's included?

You will be provided with some pre-course materials and a course handbook. You will be contacted during the week to share learning and relevant resources from the day. Support continues after the course with a follow-up phone call to see how the restorative work is progressing.

Throughout the training days, there will be refreshments and a lovely hot lunch. Peacemakers will nourish your belly as well as your mind!
