Are solo travelers safe / welcome?

Solo travellers are very welcome and very safe at Merrifield House Yoga Centre.

What is the average age range?

The average age of participants is anything from 25 to 65 years. However, all ages (18 yr+) are welcome.

How many people will be on the retreat?

The number of people on the retreat may vary. It is likely to be between 6 and 10 people.

Is the program flexible?

You are welcome to participate in as much or as little as you wish - The choice is entirely yours.

Do you have a suggest kit list?

Yoga mat or beach towel (suitable for beach yoga). Swimsuit (or other clothing suitable for SUP yoga). Shoes you don't mind getting wet. Strap for sunglasses or glasses. Waterproof bag if you wish to take belongings into the water. Swimsuit, beach towel (for optional sea swim). Reusable water bottle

Is a shorter or longer stay possible?

Yes. A shorter or longer stay at Merrifield House may be possible subject to availability.

Can you arrange a transfer?

Guests are responsible for their own transport and transfers. However free picks up from Kingsbridge may be possible subject to availability.

Do you offer free parking?

Yes. We have a free off-road carpark, which you are welcome to use. We kindly request that you car share where possible.

How to get there (flights, airport transfers, buses, trains)?

Book your flight to Exeter International Airport (EXT), Cornwall Airport Newquay (NQY) or Bristol Airport (BRS). Then take a train, bus, or coach to Plymouth, Totnes, or Kingsbridge and follow the public transport details below.

Best way to travel by bus or coach?

Closest bus stops: Churchstow (1 mile), Aveton Gifford (2 miles), Kingsbridge (3.5 miles) on Stagecoach #3. From there, take a short taxi to Merrifield House (free pick-up may be possible). Coaches also run from London Victoria to Plymouth with National Express, usually direct or with one change.

Best way to arrive by taxi?

Plenty of taxis to collect from Kingsbridge, Totnes, Plymouth, Exeter & Bristol. Bus station: Kingsbridge (3.5 miles) Train station: Totnes (18 miles, £45–£80 each way) Coach station: Plymouth (18 miles, £45–£80 each way) Airport: Exeter (40 miles, £120–£200), Bristol (100 miles, £170–£250)

Best way to arrive by car?

We are located approx. 3.5 miles outside Kingsbridge. It is highly recommended you have a car if you are coming to stay with us. There is plenty of free off-road parking at Merrifield House.

Best way to arrive by train?

Our closest station is Totnes (16 miles) on the Paddington–Plymouth line, with direct trains from London, Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth. You can also alight at Plymouth (20 miles). From either station, take a bus to Kingsbridge, Churchstow or Aveton Gifford, then a short taxi to Merrifield House.
