Samples processing

Fixation, dehydration, epoxy resin embedding, on either cultured cells, a piece of tissue or tissue slices for flat embedding.

12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Lunch

1:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Sectioning. Session 1.

Making glass knives, pyramid preparation, aligning the block to the knife, glass knife thick-sectioning, and staining sections for viewing in a light microscope.

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Sectioning. Session 2.

Introduction to a diamond knife, use of a water boat, thin sectioning, and collection of sections from water onto TEM grid.

The training will take place in the Electron Microscopy Suite at the Open University campus, with lunch and tea/coffee breaks included.
