This 3-week beginner-friendly watercolour workshop is designed to gently introduce you to the fundamentals of watercolour painting. You'll explore colour, tone, washes, and texture with a focus on keeping your work loose, fresh, and playful. Ideal for those with little to no experience, this course will help you build confidence and spark your creativity.
This workshop runs across 3 sessions on the 5th, 12th and 19th September.
Week 1 – Colour Mixing - 5th September
Learn how to create a range of hues using a limited palette of just three colours. We’ll explore colour grid exercises and get comfortable handling watercolour.
Week 2 – Tone and Washes - 12th September
Dive into tonal studies and gradated washes. You’ll learn to layer tones of a single colour to build atmospheric depth and subtle value transitions.
Week 3 – Texture with Dry Brush Techniques - 19th September
Experiment with natural tools like twigs, feathers, and shells to create expressive trees and grasses. Discover the joy of painting with texture and character.
