You’ll pass through butterfly fields and curiosities, while learning about the flora & fauna in this peaceful and beautiful area. There’s some surprising history to boot!

Alver Valley’s wild grounds are one of the few remaining unspoilt woodland pastures in Hampshire, with ancient oak trees some of which are thought to be 500 years old!

On this walk, with one of our most animated Guides (she likes to dress the part), you’ll discover some of the secrets of this area, its local history, and its wildlife interests. You’ll learn about the flora and fauna throughout the seasons, what can be seen here and when.

The nearby area of Rowner, mentioned in the Doomsday book in 1086, has connections to Royal Naval Grange Airfields from 1910, yet little trace remains in the Wild Grounds. But those remains will be highlighted, along with stories of Grange Airfield and its importance during WW1.
