Description

More than words - finding stories in your text data.

Join us for our next Data Surgery on 7 June to learn about tools and techniques for using your grant data.

At this session we will be focusing on words and exploring text analysis tools and classifications, including:

  • Classifying grants by funding type

Can we develop and use shared classifications? We’ll explore this topic taking inspiration from questions asked during our Quest for Questions about types of funding, including restricted vs unrestricted, core vs project and capital funding.

  • Learning to analyse text data

Using the WordCounter tool we’ll explore descriptive text, finding patterns by identifying common words, and learn to tell a data-driven story.

Our Data Surgeries are designed to be interactive with plenty of time for questions and discussions in groups. We welcome organisations that have published their data to the 360Giving Standard, are in the process of doing so or are just interested in finding out more about who we are and what we do.

You don’t need to be a technical expert to join the conversation.

Please come with your laptop, questions and ideas. We will provide an opportunity to get practical advice and support and share your top tips or challenges.

We look forward to seeing you there.
