What is the dress code?

All guests are asked to attend the Lecture in Business Attire. Livery Company Masters and the Clerks are encouraged to wear their badges.

What time can I arrive on the evening?

Guildhall will open its doors at 5pm sharp, and all guests are asked to take their seats from 5:30pm.

Question 3

How do I collect my tickets?

Accepted Answer

Once you've registered, you'll receive a confirmation email with a downloadable PDF which includes your QR code. This code will provide you and guests access to the event, so it's important you have it to hand on the evening. You can also access this through your Eventbrite account.

What do I do if I've lost my QR code?

Accepted Answer

If you can't find your QR code, please try searching 'Tacitus Lecture' in your email inbox to find your email confirmation. Alternatively, visit your Eventbrite account and click 'Print Order'. If you're still unable to find the code, please contact us at tacitus@world-traders.org.

Question 5

Will all guests have a QR code?

Accepted Answer

Yes, each individual who is registered has their own QR code. If you registered multiple guests, these will be issued to the email you used on registration and your guests' emails. It is then your responsibility to circulate these to each guest and ensure they have them to hand on the evening.

Question 6

How do I add guests names to the booking at a later date?

Accepted Answer

If you registered multiple guests and didn't include their names on registration, you can do so by returning to your booking and click 'Edit' to complete the required field. We are unable to admit individuals who are not on the guest list. Please complete this no later than 10 May.

Question 7

Can I order more tickets?

Accepted Answer

As this is a highly popular event, each group has a set number of tickets they can register for. For example, if you are a member, you are eligible for a total of 10 tickets, including your own.

Question 8

I'm a sponsoring organisation - how do I order my tickets?

Accepted Answer

For security purposes, we ask that all sponsors order their tickets through the Eventbrite system. If you are a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum sponsor, please select your corresponding group when you register.

I'm from a school or college - can under 18s attend?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we welcome all faculty members and students from educational establishments to join us for the Lecture (though very young children are unlikely to benefit).

In the event that students are under 18, a member of the school's faculty must accompany them.

Question 10

I'm a member of the Press - can I secure interviews with attendees?

Accepted Answer

If you're attending as a member of the Press, we encourage you to contact us prior to the evening to arrange any interviews or request a quote.

We are unable to coordinate exclusive interviews with Rory Stewart.

Question 11

I'm a member of the public - can I attend the Lecture?

Accepted Answer

For safety and security, the Tacitus Lecture is a closed event, and attendance is typically by invite only.

Can I take photos and videos of the Lecture?

Accepted Answer

While you're permitted to take photos and videos beforehand, we ask that you refrain from taking any during the Lecture.

We have a dedicated photographer and videographer who will be capturing the evening's festivities, and imagery will be shared on our public platforms after the event.

Question 13

I'm not comfortable with my photo being taken - can I opt out?

Accepted Answer

As this is a public event, we are unable to request individual permission from each attendee. By registering for tickets, you are consenting to the use of photography and videography which may include your image.

Please be aware that the event will be heavily documented and live streamed.

Can I request a specific seat at the Lecture?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, we're unable to take individual seating requests.

Please note that only some places are specifically allocated, while all others are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

I've never been to the Tacitus Lecture before. What can I expect?

We're pleased to welcome you to your first Tacitus Lecture! To gain a good understanding of the evening's festivities, we encourage you to look closely at the agenda and dress code.
