Event description

Description

3D Photography of Scale Models
Led by: Paul Ellis

This workshop is presented by Paul Ellis, who created the 3D images of the Vale Scene that were published with the January issue of British Railway Modelling and can be seen at Pendon over the New Year.

The fundamentals of stereo photography will be explained and the special techniques used with scale models will be described in detail. Using practical demonstrations, participants will be shown how a 3D image of a scale model can be created in such a way that it appears to be a photograph of a life-size scene, especially when photographing the highly detailed Pendon models.

The workshop will cover capturing the images and preparing the stereo versions using freely available software to create both “side by side” and “anaglyph” stereographs. During the workshop there will be an opportunity for participants to photograph one of the Pendon models and to take away with them a processed stereo anaglyph print made from their own images

Participants should bring with them a digital camera, preferably one that allows full manual control. A pair of plastic 3D glasses will be given to each participant to take away.
