3D printing offers designers, creators, makers and hobbyists a powerful addition to their toolkit. This workshop has been specifically designed for absolute beginners to start bringing their ideas to life on the 3D printers at DoES Liverpool.
During the 4 hour course, we’ll cover the following topics:
- Basic components and operation of a filament 3D printer
- Filament materials
- Apps for creating and editing 3D models
- Optimising designs for printing
- Useful sites for downloading existing models
- Post-print and complementary processes
- Tips, tricks and common problems
The course assumes general computer skills, and experience with some form of computer graphics (even drawing in Powerpoint) is very helpful.
To get the most from the workshop, attendees will require their own laptop and an SD card (full size) for transferring files to the 3D printer.
By the end of the course, attendees will be able to create their own basic designs and use the filament 3D printers at DoES Liverpool.
Please note that since prints typically take several hours to complete, we will not be printing out your own designs at the workshop; the idea is that you can come back to DoES and print your own :-)
