Unity Does MAATer - Summertime Holiday Edutainment Programme for Young People


Each One, Reach One, Teach One. Educational Event not to be missed

(Limited number of places available, please note that to guarantee a place for this event you have to book a place online).

During the 4 days our young people get to learn and explore their heritage, goal setting, financing their goals, product making through arts & crafts and natural product making .

This fun focus is student led fun as a holiday activity, we still ensure the highest standards are reached by the children in performance.

Monday 22 August 22 - Young People's DIY Natural Body Products Workshop

Our young people will learn how to make the following four products:-

  • Natural Lip Balm
  • Natural Whipped Body Butter
  • Soap
  • Natural Disinfecting Room Spray

Our young people will receive step-by-step instructions on how to make each product. No animal products are used, so this is suitable for vegans. We will discuss equipment, ingredients, and most importantly safety. This fun workshop is a way of introducing young people to creating their own natural product in a fun, informative and relaxed way.

Tuesday 23 August 22 - Young People's Art's & Crafts Workshop

Young people will create explore their creativity by designing their own t-shirts, bags and other items. As it is close to Carnival time, children can bring their own (old) t-shirts, shoes, pumps and items that they would like to wear over carnival to be redesigned. Our young people will enjoy being creative in a relaxed and social environment.

Wednesday 24 August 22 - Inspiring our Young People for Success Workshop

On this fun “Inspiring our Young People for success workshop” the children will learn how to set goals; make them realistic; review their progress and so much more…..

The children will create vision boards with their goals and dreams (customised). They will learn the skills and values to achieving them. The young people can bring along personal pictures, affirmations, quotes that will increase their focus. The young people can also bring their own mobile devices (laptops, tablets), as they will learn how to search and customise online pictures before they are printed. This workshop also introduces finance in a fun and simple way.

Thursday 25 August 22 - Young People's Black History Workshop

Our young people will learn about the presence of Black people in Britain and their influence on this island and worldwide. Our young people will examine their Black story before enslavement.

Our young people will leave this sessions with a fresh view of their history, with transferable skills in critical thinking, contributed to discussion and with a want to continue learning about their history. Attending this event gives the young people a sense of self which builds confidence.

  • We also include free healthy snacks and water.

  • Completed consent form.
  • Pack lunch.
  • Water bottle.
  • Old clothes and shoes for Art Workshop.

Our group have been working in the Chapeltown, Leeds community area (Chapel Allerton Ward), since March 2015. We are a community organisation which is managed by members from the local community.
