With nearly a third of 10-11 year olds and over a fifth of 4-5 year olds in the UK overweight or obese food education has never been more important.
As part of Give & Gain Day 2017 Penygraig Junior School would like a volunteer team to deliver a healthy eating workshop activities where children can learn about food through fun games, activities and quizzes to help pupils become ‘food smart’.
The overall goal is getting kids excited about food and introducing them to new foods and healthy eating habits.
Business volunteers will be provided with some ideas and suggestions to help plan activities.
A meeting with the school will also be facilitated to help volunteer team leaders learn what the pupils have done in the past and how to pitch the workshop.
Other relevant information:
Businesses are expected to purchase the necessary materials and ingredients, alongside any kitchen utensils required which the school may not possess, such as chopping boards, spatulas, whisks, peelers etc. No actual cooking will be done, in the past children have made healthy snacks and healthy sandwiches.
