As debt and money scams can have a detrimental effect on students’ finances and mental health, King’s Student Money Mentors are working with the Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) to raise awareness about loan sharks and where students could receive support. IMLT investigates and prosecutes illegal money lenders and supports people who borrowed money from a loan shark. If you are curious or concerned about how loan sharks may affect you, your friends or family members come along to hear from ILMT’s experts! Open to all staff and students

Monday 5th December

Bush House Courtyard, Strand: Theme of the day – ‘Identifying loan sharks’, find out about illegal lending, who is a loan sharks, and the criminal penalties of loan sharks.

Tuesday 6th December

New Hunt’s House, Guy’s: Theme of the day - ‘Young People’, find out how students can prepare and manage their personal finances to be better protected.

Wednesday 7th December

FWB Library, Waterloo: Theme of the day – ‘Tackling loan sharks’, find out about the common misconceptions of loan sharking and impact loan sharks have on their victims.

Thursday 8th December

Strand Building, Strand: Theme of the day - ‘Finding a way out’, find out how to escape the grip of loan sharks, how victims can reclaim their lives, and the legal implications of loan sharking.

Please note this event is for current students and staff at King's College London. You can book a ticket for our stalls to show your support and get reminders about the event but it is not a requirement to attend on the day.
