Event description

Description

Join us for a free lecture about Augustus the first Roman emperor. Professor Mary Beard, Professor of Classics at Newnham College, Cambridge, will discuss Roman imperialism in the wider historical context.

This lecture has been organised as part of our VGM@10 celebrations to mark the 10 year anniversary of when the VG&M opened its doors to the public for the very first time on 30th June 2008.

The lecture also offers participants their chance to view the stunning Meroë Head of Augustus that is on display until Saturday 30th June and has been borrowed from the British Museum as part of the BBC Civilisations Festival.
