About this event

Community • Heritage

The Fourth Windrush International Organisations Conference brought together a powerful assembly of voices from across the UK and the global Caribbean diaspora, united in purpose: to honour the legacy of the Windrush Generation and to strengthen international collaboration for racial justice, cultural preservation, and community empowerment.

Held under the theme “Legacy, Leadership, and the Future”, the conference served as a vital platform for dialogue, reflection, and strategic action. Delegates representing grassroots organisations, academic institutions, policymakers, artists, and intergenerational leaders joined forces to explore the enduring impact of Windrush and chart a progressive path forward.

The conference delved into critical issues affecting the Caribbean diaspora and wider Black communities including the aftermath of the Windrush scandal, reparative justice, education reform, identity and belonging, economic empowerment, and global solidarity. Participants shared best practices, developed new partnerships, and showcased initiatives that preserve cultural memory while driving systemic change.

With contributions from across the UK, the Caribbean, North America, and Europe, South Asia and Africa the event highlighted the global resonance of the Windrush story — not just as a British narrative, but as a diasporic one that speaks to themes of resilience, migration, citizenship, and human rights.

Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, artistic performances, and youth-led forums, the conference celebrated the contributions of the Windrush Generation while amplifying the voices of new generations determined to carry the torch of progress. It reaffirmed the importance of unity among international organisations in addressing shared challenges and creating a future rooted in justice, dignity, and heritage.

Now in its fourth year, the Windrush International Organisations Conference stands as a growing force for change a beacon of collaboration, accountability, and cultural pride that reaches far beyond national borders.
