Event description

Description

At this summer’s 4th Estate Literary Salon we ask ‘Is there any such thing as a ‘female’ style of writing? Can you tell, without looking at the title page, whether an author is male or female?’ Come and hear another stellar panel discuss the thorny issue of how gender can inform one’s own writing at The Groucho Club.

Is it possible to create a language that is neither male nor female, but accepted on its own terms? From the moral implications of the ‘outing’ of Elena Ferrante to discussions of gender stereotyping genres, we will be dissecting the subject from all perspectives for a night of lively debate and deliberation.

On this salon’s illustrious panel will be authors and journalists Elizabeth Day (Paradise City and The Party), Laura Barnett (The Versions of Us and Greatest Hits) and Viv Groskop (I Laughed, I Cried).

Time: 7.30-10.00pm
Date: Monday 17th July 2017
Place: Gennaro Room, The Groucho Club

Tickets are £7
