Following three highly-acclaimed LGBTQ+ networking events at the Society’s Annual Conference, the Queer in Microbiology group is pleased to announce that we will be back again for a gathering at the Annual Conference 2025 in Liverpool, UK. Already a highlight in the Annual Conference social programme, the 4th LGBTQ+ networking event hopes to expand its reach, promoting safer, fairer and welcoming working environments for Queer, Trans and Nonbinary microbiologists in the UK and across the world. Whilst the event is primarily aimed at LGBTQ+ microbiologists, allies are also very welcome to join.

For a second year, there will be a Trans and Nonbinary pre-meet, to continue to broaden the discussion on a more complete representation of all community members. Additionally, feedback from previous events has been reviewed and we can share ideas on aligning our efforts with other important pro-LGBTQIA+ initiatives in STEMM internationally.

The venue will be provided to attendees only, closer to the time of the event. It is a 5–10 minute walk from the conference centre.

We look forward to you joining us for a fun evening! Refreshments will be provided, in addition to some exciting entertainment! Further details of which will be confirmed via email prior to the event. The pre-meet for our Trans/Nonbinary attendees will take place 20:00–20:30, followed by the LGBTQ+ Networking Event from 20:30–22:00.

We aim to create a safe space for all and ask that everyone respects attendees’ rights to privacy and familiarises themselves with the Microbiology Society’s events code of conduct.
