Hello fellow Urbanistas!
We hope you’ve had a refreshing summer, making the most of the sunshine and longer days.
Our new term starts in October and we have three get togethers before the end of the year:
- Tuesday 4 October meet – mapping our network
- Tuesday 15 November meet – over to you
- Thursday 15 December social – Christmas party
Who are we, where do we live/work/make a difference and what influence do we have on inclusion in and around Newcastle?
Megan Hughes, a third year geography student at Newcastle University, who is interested in answering these questions, will join us at our next meet on Tuesday 4 October, 18.00-20.00 at Broadacre House. Megan is starting her undergraduate dissertation research exploring ideas around women’s networking and its influence on inclusion, and wants to map our Urbanistas network as part of her research. She will use participatory methods to explore our network: where we as individuals live, work and have influence; the connections between us; the shape of our network across Newcastle and the north east; and how we influence inclusion.
We’re pleased and excited to support Megan in her research, and feel it will surface some useful and interesting information for us Urbanistas too.
We’ll also hear updates from projects we’ve heard from in recent months and from us plus some time for us to plan our future meet ups together so we make sure we all get what we want from Urbanistas North East.
Please let us know you’re coming by booking a place. We are for a small donation to cover snacks & drinks & room hire (usually around £3).
