York Pubmeet Saturday 19th Sept 5pm til late
The Ackhorne Pub, 9 St. Martins Lane, York YO1 6LR
(just off Micklegate Rd, 2 mins from Brigantes)
Yay, we're having another shindig in York, so please join us... We've moved as well, so please note the new location while you're here...
Our next York Pubmeet will be taking place on Saturday 19th September at The Ackhorne pub in St Martins Lane, York -- this is 2 mins further down the road and off to the right from our usual Brigantes haunt, so should be easy enough to find (a little further down the hill towards town)...
For those who have attended previous events, please note that the new location doesn't serve food, but you're more than welcome to bring your own -- for those partial to grabbing a bite to eat afterwards (usu. around 730/8pm-ish), the Brigantes is 2-3 mins away, and the rest of York town centre only a short 5-10min walk... there's a nice Indian restaurant not too far away too...!
As always, this is a FREE event, and we'll have another selection of super guests and books to give away on the day, and yes, all of it FREE! We ask you to 'book tickets' only so we can get a vague idea of numbers for the benefit of the landlord -- there is no need to bring them along.
This event is in association with the British Fantasy Society (BFS) and the British Science Fiction Association (BSFA), and we are always pleased to announce another open pubmeet event for the Yorkshire region. Our guest authors for the evening, reading from their own work and fielding questions about their careers and writing in general, are Marie O'Regan and Alex Davis... both are also well-respected, acknowledged editors too, so budding writers should consider themselves well and truly spoilt with regards to this critical aspect of any writing project.

Alex Davis (publisher: Boo Books): http://boobooks.net/boo-blog/
Always plenty of good conversation and drinks to enjoy (and usu. other authors around to interroga... erm... 'tap' for advice) -- these are always great social occasions, and no reason this shouldn't be another great night, full to bursting with inspirational spirit and camaraderie, so don't miss out -- plan ahead!

"I love being a part of the BSFA - I've always been a devourer of books and being part of this association has enabled me to explore some great science fiction classics - and classics of the future that I might otherwise have not heard about. I've met some lovely people with an enthusiasm for the genre, made firm friends, and got to meet some of my favourite writers, too! As a writer, I also have to say that FOCUS is the best magazine for writers I've ever come across - and as a member I get that for free. Who wouldn't want to be a part of this?"
