Saturday 7th October 9.00am to 5.30pm - Registration from 8.30am

Sunday 8th October - 9.00am – 5.00pm

Monday 9th October- 9.30a.m. to 5.00pm

CPD: 21 CPD hours

Objectives: The course empowers practitioners with a systematic method by which an orthopaedic assessment of joints can be undertaken. Each 5 Minute MSk assessment brings together accepted mainstream, evidence-based and functional tests in a structured approach to enable practitioners to have strong diagnostic suspicions following examination. This logical progression allows the practitioner to carry out a succinct 5-minute evaluation of the patient.

Alongside orthopaedic assessment skills, 5 minutes Msk gives attendees an in depth understanding patient interview technique with focus on with patients with chronic pain patients, understanding psychosocial drivers and the evidence behind pain science

Who should attend: This course is recommended for qualified chiropractors and students in their final years of study.

1. Central joint structures, including:

a. C-spine

b. Lumbar spine

c. Shoulder

d. Hip

2. Peripheral joint structures, including:

a. Elbow

b. Wrist and hand

c. Knee

d. Ankle and foot

3. Patient interview technique

This is not an assessed course, however, delegates are supervised during practice sessions and extra assistance is offered if required. Delegates should feel empowered to perform effective clinical assessments following the course. Certificate of attendance will be provided.

- Cancellation 7-10 days before the event - 50% refund

- Cancellation 6 days or less, or failure to attend on the day of a course - no refund


Jonathan Cairns Jonathan Cairns graduated from the McTimoney Chiropractic in 2010 and went on to complete an MSc in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health at University College London (UCL). He owns and works within a multidisciplinary clinic in Hertfordshire, as well lecturing in both AECC and McTimoney chiropractic colleges. Further specialist activities include diversification into multi-disciplinary practices, honorary role with upper limb team at Institute of Sport, Health and Exercise at UCL, member of a multi-disciplinary team at Pure Sport Medicine London, and delivery of CPD courses in multiple locations.

More recent activities have included treatment in specialist sporting areas involving UK Athletics, Fencing, 7's in the City and Horse Racing industry professionals.

Dinesh Sirisena After graduating from Bart’s and The London Medical School in 2004, Dr. Sirisena followed his passion for Sports and Exercise Medicine by completing a training program with the London Deanery to became a Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine in 2014. He has worked in a range of sports including professional football (AFC Wimbledon), Premiership Rugby (Northampton Saints), the Irish and English Football Associations (Under 19 Men’s, Under-15 and 19 Women’s and the Partially-Sighted Futsal), British Gymnastics (British Indoor Championships), Mixed Martial Arts (Event Doctor), Wimbledon Tennis (Event Doctor), British Athletics (Indoor and Outdoor) and the London Olympic and Paralympic Games (Sports Medicine and Field of Play).

He has also developed interests in Clinical Education, taking on an Honorary Clinical Lecturer and Examiner role at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Medical School. In addition, he has taken on role of Educational Development Officer with the British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine (BASEM).

Another area of interest is research. Dr. Sirisena has been involved in a number of posters and presentations and completed an MSc in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health with UCL. He is also an Interventional Musculoskeletal Ultrasonographer, having completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound with Bournemouth University.

Jim Zouch Jim Zouch graduated from the University of Canberra in 2007 and went on to complete further studies in strength and conditioning at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville before completing an MSc in Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra in 2009. He works within a multidisciplinary team at Pure Sports Medicine, London. During his years of practice he has developed a good understanding and special interest in pain science and the psychology behind patient’s experience of pain.

He also has previous experience treating sporting athletes in NEAFL Ainsile football club and ACTAS Rowing.
