Mon 8 May 2017, 09:00 – 17:00 BST
Llanfrechfa Grange Walled Garden Community are a group of volunteers made up of staff and ex staff of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, who are working with the Health Board and Groundwork Caerphilly on a project to restore the old Victorian walled garden at Llanfrechfa Grange.
The garden is 180 years old and the group has spent the past year clearing the garden and drawing up designs. The garden is approximately a quarter of an acre and it is intended to be used by visitors to the Specialist Critical Unit which is being built close by.
Volunteers could help the group complete some of the many outstanding tasks such as
Installing crazy paving
Levelling off an area of ground
Building a picket fence
Painting the shed
Digging out weeds
The group has only a limited number of hand-tools and depending on the tasks undertaken volunteers may need to take their own especially for any woodworking tasks.
Volunteers will require gloves and sturdy footwear
The project can be completed on a Monday alongside the groups regular volunteers who could provide guidence for some of the tasks
