General information about our workshops
Bringing Science and Creativity to Life!
Holiday fun for children aged 6-9 years and 10-13 years old. In addition to our daily activities, during the local school holidays we also offer fantastic workshops for children which are a great way to have fun and learn at the same time. They are fully interactive; children are totally immersed in carrying out experiments or making and creating (depending on the type of workshop). Many of the workshops involve an element of 'Make and Take' projects when the children are able to take what they have made home.
Specific workshops are aimed at age groups 6-9 years and 10-13 years. Please check the intended age group of your chosen workshop because we cannot accept children outside of the specified age range.
Further information about dropping off and picking up your children
Events are run by experienced Science Centre staff supported by volunteers. All staff and volunteers working with children are registered as STEM Sussex Ambassadors and have been checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Groups do not exceed 24 children, with three or four adults per group or a ratio of 1 adult per 6 children. This allows each child to fully participate and ensures that children are sufficiently supervised.
The days will be based around hands-on project work with children making working models, as well as engaging in set experiments. Activities may vary slightly from the descriptions given in the calendar of events and our Events & Activities brochure after assessing the ability of the group. Some activities take place outside so we recommend practical clothing.
