This is sure to be an educational and entertaining afternoon featuring pioneers in the field of plant-based nutrition. Come and hear the latest in nutrition science and discover how a whole food plant-based diet can improve health and well-being. Dr Kim Williams, former President of the American College of Cardiology will discuss controveries around saturated fat, sugar and animal protein consumption. The Happy Pear will share their expertise on how to bring healthy plant-based cooking to a mass audience. In 1973, Dr Denis Burkitt’s landmark paper in the British Medical Journal described how western dietary patterns had contributed to the rise of obesity, heart disease, and other chronic diseases in the 20th century. Almost 50 years later as a healthier, plant-based approach enters the mainstream, we ask our panel of experts if a plant-based diet can save modern civilisation?
