The Duty places a legal requirement on specified authorities to plan and collaborate to prevent and tackle serious violence in their local area. Education is classed as a relevant authority and must be consulted with when drawing up the local strategy.

The purpose of this event is three-fold:

To inform the production of the local strategic needs assessment and strategy to ensure insights from schools, colleges and universities are included in our local understanding of violence and its causes and local strategic priorities are relevant to and supported by education partners.

To launch the Violence Prevention Schools Handbook produced by the Violence Reduction Network.

To understand Leicestershire Police’s initiatives relevant to primary schools.

Andrew Oliver from the Holte School, Birmingham will also be sharing his experience of partnership working to prevent and reduce violence in his school.
