Event description

Description

The global move to achieve Goal 16 of the Agenda 2030 requires that Government makes coherent policies that will promote togetherness, respect, safety and dignity for all and demonstrate Its commitment to create sustainable and peaceful cities and communities, reaching the furthest behind first.

The Houses of Parliament in collaboration with AlphaZULU Advocates is holding the 5th Public-Parliament Forum on the Sustainable Development Goals in the month commemorating the International Day of Peace. Read the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres' message for a 100-day countdown to the IDP which kicked off on June 13.

The session will bring together a diverse range of stakeholders to discuss the UK Government’s commitment to implementing SDG 16, achieving peace and security through Its domestic and foreign policies and how policy and institutional coherence can accelerate changes and bring better outcomes for achieving SDG 16.

Staff of the Parliamentary Committees (TBC) will inform the Forum on their current inquiries, the implications for UK’s implementation of SDG 16 and how stakeholders can contribute to its scrutiny of relevant Government policies.

There will be contributions from a diversity of distinguished Panel and an open question session.

This session is part of a wider programme that aims to spread awareness of the processes and relevance of the institution of Parliament.

There are limited places at this event and places are available on a first come first served basis.
