VoIP industry veteran Dean Elwood is known to many of us as founder and CEO of embedded SIP vendor Voxygen. He has spent the last few years working with some of the world's biggest telcos to develop Over The Top VoIP solutions.
It might be considered slightly unusual for large telcos to develop VoIP services that would inevitably cannibalise their traditional revenue base. This "experimentation" however highlights the level of concern that incumbent operators have regarding the threat of OTT services and their need to understand the dynamics of that market.
The 5th trefor.net UC Executive Dinner will serve as a debating ground for where our industry is going. The subject of OTT nicely complements the discussions of previous evenings: Microsoft Lync, Google, the US market for ITSPs and WebRTC. All these represent OTT subjects but Dean will introduce a new variable which is how telcos will cope in this ecosystem.
The capacity for this event is 20 persons which as usual allows everyone to get involved in the debate. We have used the venue, The Kings Arms, on two previous occasions. It's great location for the evening with a terrific bar. The Kings Arms does have rooms but you will need to be quick to secure accommodation as both tickets for the dinner and the rooms will sell out quickly.
Attendance is by invitation only but it is not a closed list. If you know of a senior exec in the industry who might want to come please let me know.
