It is my absolute pleasure and delight to invite you to join us for the 5th Uganda-UK investment Convention, in London on 12th Sept 2015. Not only is the convention the largest in Europe but is jointly organised with the Uganda Investment Authority and the Uganda High Commission and presents an unprecedented opportunity for UK businesses to engage in bi-lateral trade with Uganda.
Uganda continues to record remarkable economic growth, and according to the World Bank has endured a GDP growth of 6.6 in 2014, and is one of the 10 fastest growing economies in Africa.
There has been much transformation in governance and in the general political atmosphere, giving potential investors greater confidence. In terms of available investment opportunities, Uganda has abundant natural resources, discovery of oil and also, infrastructure development is continuously opening more doors for potential investors.

The Ugandan Convention UK (UCU), has become one of the year’s largest Ugandan focused investor events in London. The summit in partnership with Uganda Investment Authority has high level support from the Ugandan government and business leaders, the UK government and the Diaspora business community.
With the high profile speakers including Uganda Prime Minister, Queen of Buganda, Deputy Governor, Lords, ministers all presenting on a high-level plenary, UCU brings together leaders of business and high level government officials who are all actively seeking inward investment.
Most importantly, business leaders, ministers and CEO’s of private and state owned companies will be presenting bankable projects in various sectors to delegates of banks and financial institutions, investors and financiers, multilateral organisations, trade associations, business consultants, agriculture/agribusiness,

Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda, will address the forum on what steps are policy makers taking to increase trade in Uganda and what the government is doing to reduce red tape and speed the flow of deals.
Eng. Dr. Frank B. Sebbowa, Executive Director of Uganda Investment Authority, will talk about unlocking Uganda’s investment potential, and share insights on investment updates and investment climate on the ground. He will touch on what makes Uganda so attractive to investors and lastly, will list the new sectors for investment that have high ROI.
Dr. Louis Kasekende, Deputy Governor, Bank of Uganda will give an overview on capital markets in Uganda, exploring new instruments like Diaspora bonds, investing in Uganda’s sovereign debts, local & public bonds instruments, attracting investment – deepening Uganda’s capital markets, financing infrastructure and other development through capital markets and on capitalizing on Uganda equities – the M&A and IPO opportunities.
Ms Doris Akol, Commissioner General of Uganda revenue Authority will give an overview on tax regime, tax exemption and incentives.
Dr. Benon Mutambi, CEO of Electricity Regulatory Authority will make a presentation on powering Uganda, opportunities and financing options in Uganda’s power sector and highlights on feed-in tariffs, incentives and policies to attract solar developments . He will share an introduction to GET FiT Uganda Solar/PV component, current status, opportunities & targets for renewable (solar) energy generation in Uganda and what the government incentives are.
Her Royal Highness the Nnabagereka (Queen) Sylvia Nagginda, our Guest of Honour will give a keynote speech on the role of Ugandan women in sustainable economic development.
UCU is organised by The Promota events, a subsidiary of The Promota Group. The Promota Group specialises in ethnic marketing, magazine publication, events management, printing and design, web and multimedia design and private equity bridging in Africa.
The Promota Group was started by Willy Mutenza in 1998 with an objective of creating various platforms for Diasporans, investors promoting investment into Africa and creating a platform for Africans Diasporas and investors to share practical ideas to succeed in Africa.
