Description
A World that works for all
Having completed six years of operations, full of positive social impact and having created a community where new ideas, innovation, creative spirits gather and working together to propose the most critical issues and feasible disruptive solutions, Impact Hub Athens welcomes its "new era" by talking about what has already happened and what is emerging.
We want to discuss & assess the evolution of the ideas that we saw in their birth and today are dominant. Movements that began timidly and today are sweeping past certainties and evolved. Trends and suggestions that six years ago seemed unlikely but today determine the course of action.
Let’s discover them together.
Let’s connect and collaborate towards a common goal: to pioneer a just & sustainable world where business & profit are used in service of people and planet.

In practice.
We envision a 3 days impact festival, where experts, stakeholders, practitioners, curious & interested, young & older can come together to explore, debate and design around core issues of the social innovation & economy sector. On the 28, 29 & 30/03 we are hosting a safe & inspiring space where unlikely allies can share concerns, practices, experiences, and leave inspired, aligned and connected for potential joint ventures, programmes & actions.
After harvesting the key questions of the creative forces, cultivating ideas & initiatives formed by citizens & grassroots, and having a close look on emerging wicked ideas, we are creating a 3 days think forward event, designed around the following topics:
Systemic Change: How the world is changing today? Where should we focus as we design the impact agenda of the next years? What are the movements, what are the forces that will determine economy & society for the 5 years to come? Where can we find brilliant examples of people & organizations that are building a better today?
Which are the new tools for facing the critical technological, social and environmental challenges? Which new approach can lead to actionable solutions? Can a reviewed and evaluated value system shift the economy and drive progress? Would radical collaboration, connected economy and unlikely allies the core elements of a new positive impact driven economy?
Tech for good: How can technology create opportunities for growth for social economy? What are the benefits, the risks and the social impact of Artificial Intelligence’s expanding? What is the future of blockchain technology? What are the possible applications this technology can have and how would that change the face of the industries as we know them? How can people reverse the potential social disadvantages of the advancements in robotics? How can Internet of Things can create positive impact?
Activism: How is activism evolving and being realized from different authorities of the society through social movements, advocacy and lobbying? What are the urgent issues that we have to gather around as citizens and act? Let’s discuss the advancement of Activism from the perspective of the citizen, the institutions, the organizations, the businesses (corporate citizenship) and how it influences positive change in politics, environmental protection, access to work, representation & safety.
Urbanism: Could participatory urban interventions lead to community empowerment? Which are the gains of the community empowerment and what’s the principal intention for this movement? What radical change brings out the fact that the power is moving to the Municipalities? What’s the role of the big cities?
Circular Economy: What is the potential of the circular economy and the relevant innovative applications on nature based technologies, on sustainable food systems, on clean technology and on waste management?
Each topic would be approached by different means & formats: from debates and panels to workshops, from films & performances to practical interventions, we aspire to offer different stimuli to our guests & visitors, for a fruitful, action driven output.
