Talk 6 of 10: Drawn to Remember
The sketches on scrap paper from prisoners of war, the caricatures of friends and enemies, the letters and drawings from your children, are all pictures worth a thousand words. Drawn to share and remember, but also to help make memories, and to make sense of them. Drawn also, to kill time, the other enemy. Drawn to document daily life, and to share a normality with the outside world. Perhaps they are sentimental or profound, the dark and scary and the light hearted and funny. From cartoon to propaganda poster, from doodle to master piece, drawing pictures is also about time. Not just the content but the time it takes to create and in terms of art history, the time in which it was drawn. Do you remember the last drawing you did? Can remember why you did it? Let me show you how to transcend time through drawing. Let me show you some drawings you wont forget.
Let's look at some of these amazing artists and ask...
"How does war affect art and vice versa?"
